Tax incentives
Reducing energy consumption is more cost-effective than ever before.
In Switzerland and Ticino, federal, cantonal, and sometimes municipal grants are available for the installation of energy-efficient systems and renewable energy systems.
At YouPower, we help you identify the available incentives and manage the paperwork, turning your investment into real savings.
What incentives are available?
Incentives vary depending on the technology installed and the location, but they can generally be combined.
1. Photovoltaic
For photovoltaic systems, the following are available:
- Federal subsidy (Pronovo) in the form of a one-time payment
- Cantonal subsidy (Renewable Energy Fund – FER)
- Municipal subsidy – possible additional variable incentives
These grants significantly reduce the initial cost of the system, increasing the overall savings. In many cases, federal, cantonal, and municipal grants can be combined, further reducing the payback period.
2. Heat Pumps and Renewable Heating Systems
Ticino supports the replacement of fossil fuel systems (oil, gas, or direct electric) with renewable solutions. As a rough guide:
- Approximately CHF 7,000 + CHF 180/kW for replacement with a heat pump
- Approximately CHF 4,000 for the replacement of a very old heat pump
Amounts may vary depending on the system’s capacity, the type of building, and the specific conditions of the project. The cantonal program (2025–2031) allocates funds dedicated to the energy transition.
3. Tax Incentives
In addition to direct incentives, energy retrofitting projects for buildings also benefit from tax advantages: the costs incurred can be deducted from taxable income, reducing the financial impact of the investment. In many cases, if the cost of the work is high, the expenses can be spread over multiple tax years, increasing the overall benefit.
Why It’s Worth Investing Now
Ticino has launched an energy and climate plan aimed at reducing emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy. Significant public funds have been allocated to support the energy transition in the coming years.
Taking action today means:
- Reducing energy costs
- Increasing property value
- Taking advantage of available grants before any future changes
