Tax incentives
Reducing energy consumption is now more affordable than ever.
In Switzerland and Ticino, federal, cantonal, and sometimes municipal subsidies are available for the installation of efficient systems and systems powered by renewable energy.
At YouPower, we support you in identifying the incentives available and managing the paperwork, so that your investment translates into real savings.
What incentives are available?
Incentives vary depending on the technology installed and the location, but can generally be combined.
1.Photovoltaics
For photovoltaic systems, the following are available:
- Federal subsidy (Pronovo) in the form of a one-off payment
- Cantonal subsidy (Renewable Energy Fund – FER)
- Municipal subsidy – possible additional variable incentives
These contributions significantly reduce the initial cost of the system, increasing overall savings. In many cases, federal, cantonal, and municipal contributions can be combined, further reducing the payback period.
2. Heat pumps and renewable heating systems
Ticino supports the replacement of fossil fuel systems (oil, gas, or direct electricity) with renewable solutions. As a guide:
- Approximately CHF 7,000 + CHF 180/kW for replacement with a heat pump
- Approximately CHF 4,000 for the replacement of a very old heat pump
Amounts may vary depending on the power of the system, the type of building, and the specific conditions of the project. The cantonal program (2025–2031) provides funds dedicated to the energy transition.
3. Tax breaks
In addition to direct incentives, energy efficiency upgrades to buildings also come with tax breaks: the costs can be deducted from taxable income, reducing the financial impact of the investment. In many cases, if the cost of the work is high, the expenses can be spread over several tax years, increasing the overall benefit.
Why it is worth investing now
Ticino has launched an energy and climate plan with the aim of reducing emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy. Significant public funds have been allocated to promote the energy transition in the coming years.
Acting today means:
- Reducing energy costs
- Increasing property value
- Benefiting from available subsidies before any future changes
